The Kindle Fire is still an e-book reader, but unlike its predecessors, it now has other computing functions that would sometimes be seen in tablet PCs. Although Amazon is known for its online shopping services and their e-book device, the Kindle, it seems that they want to become a company whose goal is to simply become better in every endeavor it enters. Amazon has realized that they must compete with other manufacturers that produce tablets such as Apple, Samsung, and Toshiba so that their own brand will become known across the globe.
Amazon has been known for its e-book readers since 2007. In fact, I personally think that they have now perfected the design and functionality of an ideal ebook reader and this is probably why many people prefer the Kindle among its competitors.
The Kindle Fire, however, sings a different tune. It gambles by adding other features to this popular line of product. This would be the first time that Amazon would boldly venture into the tablet PC territory, but fortunately, everything seems to be doing quite okay. The Kindle Fire is not really at par yet with its competitors, but it's not a lost cause. Eventually people will become accustomed to it and it might become the new preference of consumers; even outselling the iPad.
